Hope for the Holidays
Hope for the Holidays provides critical support for Hope Street Margolis Family Center children and families during the holiday season and beyond. Approximately 40% of the households in our geographic service area earn less than $25,000 per year.
Through your generous support, we seek to create hope for families by fulfilling some of their basic needs such as food, clothing
and household items—and a touch of holiday cheer.
Three ways to give
For over 130 years, our community has turned to Dignity Health – California Hospital Medical Center for
hope, healing and humankindness — and you can now help children and families in need this holiday
season through three simple and easy ways:
Toy drive
Help us reach our goal to provide 2,500 toys for children between the ages of 0 to 18 this holiday season. Participating is quick and easy with a click of a button online or a tap on your smartphone. Simply access our Amazon Holiday Gift List, select the toys you'd like to purchase and upon checkout, make sure to have the donations delivered* to:

Donations will be accepted Mondays–Fridays between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. until Friday, December 13, 2024. Toys will be distributed between December 16–20, 2024.
**Restriction: no toy weapons, please.
Celebrate a family
Help us
support 75 families identified by Hope Street Margolis Family Center staff who need additional assistance to celebrate the holiday season.
How it works
Adding some extra holiday cheer for families in need can be done in four easy steps:
Step 2. Each donor will be matched with a family and receive a description of the family’s situation along with a profile of each member highlighting their interests, clothing sizes, ages and first names. Families will remain anonymous to donors, and donors will not be able to meet the families out of respect for their privacy.
Step 3. Once matched with a family, donors will be asked to contribute approximately $100 worth of items per family member (e.g., a family of four is $400) based on the family’s profile. If you would like to give more than $100 worth of gifts per family member, please consider supporting the Hope Street Emergency Family Assistance Fund or the After School/Summer of Science Program by making a donation below.
An important note about gift cards: We strongly encourage sponsors to donate items based on the family profiles you receive. Gift cards should only be purchased as supplemental gifts for the family. If you’re purchasing gift cards, we encourage choosing ones from large, well-known and accessible retailers and avoiding boutique shops. If you’re unsure, please contact (213) 742-6385.
Step 4. Donors will receive specific delivery instructions upon being matched.

Gifts will be delivered to families by Hope Street staff.
Make a financial donation
Donating to the Hope Street Emergency Family Assistance Fund or the After-School & Summer of Science Fund will provide resources for Hope Street staff to
address specific family needs throughout the year, and support our enriching Youth Center after-school programs and activities like Summer of Science. Family needs may be the result of a catastrophic event or other unforeseeable and imminent emergency. For instance, if a family’s refrigerator stops working and they cannot afford a new one, donations to this fund will be used to purchase a new refrigerator for the family.
