32nd Annual La Grande Affaire raises over $460,000 for new patient tower opening this year

The new facility will transform health care access, patient experience to surrounding Los Angeles communities

LOS ANGELES (March 16, 2023) — California Hospital Medical Center Foundation’s signature fundraising gala—La Grande Affaire–transported guests to the South of France and raised over $460,000 for the completion of the new patient tower opening later this year.

The new, four-story patient tower will house expanded Emergency and Trauma Services including 51% more beds all in individual private rooms; modernized maternity services including completely redesigned labor and delivery, antepartum, postpartum and neonatal intensive care units; and will elevate our “hospital without walls” delivery of care to create new pipelines to our community programs that improve the health and wellness of our surrounding neighborhoods.

“We are so grateful to our donor community for their continued trust in the vital work we do,” says California Hospital President Alina Moran, MPA, FACHE, FAB. “With their help, we can look toward our future in making California Hospital Medical Center the hospital of choice for all of our community’s health care needs.”

Held at the Diamond Ballroom at the J.W. Marriott L.A. LIVE, nearly 500 guests enjoyed a five-course dinner with wine pairings by Executive Chef Eric Branger, a fast-paced live auction and fund-a-need presided over by auctioneer Grant Snyder, and live music by the No Vacancy Orchestra. A video featuring grateful patient Ryan Gerber—whose life was saved four times by CHMC—highlighted the community hospital's mission to deliver high-quality patient care every day.

“When you walk through our doors, you are treated equally with dignity, respect and humankindness,” says Jeff Germain, Chair of the CHMC Foundation Board. “The magic ingredients are the caregivers who choose to work at California Hospital and the donors who support our mission.”
