Intentional Giving: Shianne Hollander's decade of dedication to Hope Street Margolis Family Center
Inspired by the power of recurring donations, Shianne Hollander's story shows how small acts of giving create lasting change.
"Imagine if everyone around you gave just one dollar." For Shianne C. Hollander, Senior Vice President at IMA Financial and Insurance Services, this simple yet powerful philosophy reflects her belief that philanthropy goes far beyond writing checks—it's about creating intentional, meaningful connections and leveraging resources to make lasting change. Her over decade-long relationship with Hope Street Margolis Family Center at California Hospital Medical Center exemplifies this approach, demonstrating how individual actions can transform entire communities.
Growing up in Orange County with access to resources and opportunities, Hollander recognizes the privilege of her upbringing. "I had a bike to ride and had a place to ride it and knew I would be safe," she reflects. This awareness drives her commitment to Hope Street’s mission to change life trajectories by educating children, strengthening families and transforming the community.
What particularly moves Hollander is Hope Street's comprehensive approach to whole family support. From helping expectant mothers to providing educational resources for children and assisting parents with learning English as a Second Language, the center's impact reaches across generations, serving approximately 5,000 children and families every year. "The success that comes out of Hope Street Margolis Family Center is beyond amazing and unbelievable."
Her involvement began shortly after moving to Los Angeles to work with Lockton Insurance Brokers. Through a business partner on the hospital’s foundation board, she discovered Hope Street. The center’s dedication to creating lasting change aligned perfectly with her values of giving back meaningfully.
Hollander's approach to philanthropy is refreshingly practical, emphasizing that giving takes many forms. When financial contributions weren't possible, she found other ways to make an impact—whether arranging for professional athletes to speak with youth or connecting the program with valuable resources through her extensive network.
What sets Hope Street apart, according to Hollander, is not just its mission but the people behind it. She praises the staff's dedication, noting how they "would put their life on the line" for the families they serve. This commitment extends beyond basic services to ensuring every child has the support they need to succeed—from helping with college dorm setup to providing emotional encouragement.
Hollander's message to potential donors is clear: every contribution matters, regardless of size; and if you can give regularly, even better. "You can change someone’s life with a modest recurring gift," she emphasizes.
