Myrra Lee College Support Fund
Scholarships aren't enough for today's college students.
According to the California Student Aid Commission, non-tuition expenses have soared to $2,900/month or the equivalent of $34,800/year.
Introducing the Myrra Lee College Support Fund.
Over the course of 30 years, Hope Street Margolis Family Center has changed the trajectories of over 75,000 children and their families. As a community health and wellness program of Dignity Health - California, Hope Street’s approach puts families at the center of its work by addressing a family’s needs with compassion and care. Hope Street provides whole-child, family-centered care through education, home visiting, recreation and other services for children 0-18. By addressing many of the social drivers of health, Hope Street’s work is helping to make downtown, central and south Los Angeles a place for children and families to thrive.
Hope Street is extending its continuum of care to its students who are entering or currently enrolled in college with the launch of the Myrra Lee College Support Fund—a donor-supported fund established to help students overcome non-tuition related barriers to success in college.
The primary goal of the Myrra Lee College Student Support Fund is to increase the number of Hope Street students who graduate from college, including students attending community colleges, technical trade schools, public or private universities, or other higher education institutions.
The fund will offer assistance through a competitive application and selection process in the following areas:
- Laptops/iPads
- Food
- Clothing
- Household necessities (dorm or apartment supplies)
- Rental assistance
- Transportation
